Hurricane Helene ripped through the Southeast late September 2024. The devastation left in her wake was unimaginable. Lives lost. Homes, businesses, and landscapes completely destroyed and forever changed. Greater than her destruction though, is the power of people, of community, of love. These images only tell part of the story of the town I call home, Marshall NC. The entire downtown was underwater. In the images, look for the water lines on the walls. Cresting at 27ft, the French Broad River swallowed up some buildings, reached through the ceiling in others, and left a thick layer of mud and muck on every surface. So, folks showed up and still are to clean up. It'll be a long process, but we'll get there. #Marshall Strong.
